Be a part of something special
Volunteers are critical to the academic and character development of our students, and we encourage community involvement. We have a range of individual, group, one-time and/or on-going opportunties at all of our campuses.
Please be advised that all volunteers must complete and clear a state mandated background check before interacting with our students.
Read to Elementary Students: Volunteer with our youngest students to help them gain confidence in reading and master critical literacy skills.
Tutor Middle School Students: Become a Math Tutor and help middle school students excel in areas where they have previously struggled, helping them prepare for state exams and class assignments.
Support High School and College Alumni: KIPP Through College, KIPP DFW’s advisory program for our high school and college aged students, hosts career fairs once a month and is seeking volunteers to help facilitate mock interviews, review college essays, and assist with resume building workshops.
Lunch Buddies: Interested in interacting with students? Become a Lunch Buddy and eat your lunch with our youngest students while engaging them in conversation and helping improve table manners.
Crosswalk Monitors: Volunteers can help keep our students safe during arrival and dismissal times by becoming a crosswalk monitor.
Prepare Classroom Materials: Support KIPP DFW teachers in classroom preparations including: bulletin board decorating, printing and organizing copies of materials, and other projects.
One-Day Service Project: KIPP Dallas-Fort Worth Public Schools welcomes corporate and community groups to participate in a one day service project to help beautify our school and/or support our students on their journey to and through college.
Read Across America Day (March): In March, KIPP DFW will partner with corporate or community groups to participate in NEA’s Read Across America Day, a nationwide reading celebration that takes place annually on Dr. Seuss’s birthday to promote a love for literacy.
Teacher Appreciation Week Support (May): Show your love for our dedicated teachers and come volunteer as a Lunchroom Assistant to give them a break during this week of appreciation.
Principal for a Day (October): Be a Principal for a Day and spend time with the Superintendent, KIPP DFW teachers, and students sharing ideas and learning about the school’s day-to-day operations. The guest principal might teach a class, meet with the student council, attend student performances, read to students, address a class assembly, or participate in other activities of their choice.
